Palanquinha
The mascot was inspired by the Giant Sable antelope, which is a national symbol of Angola, ex-libris of our fauna, as it is a species that is not available in any other part of the world.
Bearing the scientific name, Hippotragus Niger Variani, the Giant sable Antelope only inhabits the Cangandala National Park and the Luanda Total nature Reserve in the Malange province. It is enlisted on the endangered species list of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as well as on the Convention for the Protection of African Fauna and flora absolute protection list.
The National Football team has also adopted the name of this antelope.
